Fat Positive and Fashion Forward blogs
I think plus size women are some of the most intelligent beings on our planet. I maybe slightly overstating (slightly) but of all the ones I personally know most of them seem to accell in academics. I also think they rank more highly in personality. Maybe this is because as teenagers they had a lot more self image problems to overcome and to balance everything out they over develop in academics and personality. Now I’m not trying to be brazen here I simply want to relate what I have observed so for you hyper sensitive types Relax and enjoy the ride!
What I wanted to briefly talk about is the formation of certain proactive fat positive groups that seem to be gaining strength and voice in our political and social system. Some are also so making a big splash (pardon the pun) in the business world especially in the world of plus size fashion clothing, modeling and even blogging. I bet many of you did not realize that blogging can be a profitable business. Anyway I just wanted to mention a few of these sites that I have visited and even participate in sometime but I won’t tell you what my ID is because that’s a secret..shhhh.
Fatshionista is one such blog with a solid blog idea and some politically savy and sharp tongued she devils on board. I love the idea of OOTD’s (outfit of the day) entry’s that many of the members participate in. The reason I think it’s so cool is that you get to see women just like you showing photos of themselves wearing outfits they want to get opinions of. Something like having your girlfriends over for a fashion party. Once you get the knack of “how to dress” you can then determine whether you think the outfit was a success or fell flat on it’s face.
Plus Size Guide is an interesting blog site that talks about the state of plus size clothing fashion today through the eyes of one designer. Although a new site with not many posts I think it will be a valuable insight to understanding plus size womens clothing designs. Sort of a way to bridge the gap between the consumer and the designer so to speak. I enjoyed recently an article on busting the myth of True to Size which so many women still hold on to today.
Luvin My Curves is another site that is very fashion forward with their finger on the pulse plus size fashion today. Take some time to check out their recent pics of Full Figured Fashion Week.
